The terrible devastation left in the wake of the tornados in Moore and Shawnee, OK this week were unbelievable! It looked like a bomb exploded! Those poor people have been on my mind constantly, and I am anxious to go with my Church group and do whatever we can to assist clearing debris and providing help any way possible. One of the things which keeps surfacing during this time, are stories on the news demonstrating the resilience of Oklahomans and their ability to not quit or give up! This remarkable attitude, in the face of devastating circumstances, reminded me of a poem that I wanted to share with you.
When things go wrong as they sometimes will
When the road you’re taking seems all uphill
When the funds are low and debt is high
And you want to smile but you have to sigh
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must but don’t you quit!
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems afar
So stick to the fight when your hardest hit
It’s when things go wrong that you mustn’t quit!
This”Don’t Quit” attitude and resilience is what makes the people of our great state Great! I pray each of us will have willing hands and open hearts to help our fellow Oklahomans as I’m totally convinced our lives will be blessed many times over when we serve others.
God Bless the people impacted by this week’s devastation!
