Yogi Berra’s Great Wisdom

Yogi Berra

When I was a boy, I played a lot of baseball and I loved watching the New York Yankees. I remember many of the Yankees baseball greats like Roger Marris, Mickey Mantle, and of course – Yogi Berra. Yogi passed way recently at the age of 90 years young. He was a 3-time MVP and on 15 All-Star teams during his 19 year career, during which the Yankees won 10 World Series titles. Even with all his baseball success, he will best be remembered for his Yogi-isms. Here are a few of my favorites:

“If you don’t know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.”

“You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I’m hungry enough to eat six.”

“Little league baseball is a very good thing because it keeps the parents off the streets.”

“Baseball is 90% mental and the other half physical.”

“Always go to other people’s funerals, otherwise, they won’t come to yours.”

“I never said most of the things I said.”

“It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.”

Yogi Berra – baseball great and source of unwitting folk wisdom. May we all learn from Yogi’s great sense of humor, wisdom, and love of life!

Live long and prosper.
